Is FreeVocalRemover really free?
Yes, completely and permanently free. No trials, no credit cards, no premium tier. Every feature is available to everyone at no cost.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required. You can upload a song and download the separated tracks without providing any personal information.
What audio formats can I upload?
We accept MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, AIFF, and most other common audio formats. The maximum file size is 100 MB per upload.
What format are the output files?
Output files are delivered as high-quality MP3 at 256 kbps — transparent quality for almost all listeners.
How long does processing take?
Typically 30–90 seconds for a standard song. Processing time depends on the length of the file and current server load. Our GPU-accelerated infrastructure processes audio as fast as the hardware allows.
How does the AI separate vocals?
We use a deep learning model trained on thousands of professionally mixed multi-track recordings. It learned to recognize and isolate vocal patterns from the frequency spectrum of any mixed audio.
Will the results be perfect?
AI vocal separation is very good — but not perfect. Songs with clear separation between voice and instruments produce the best results. Dense arrangements, heavy reverb on vocals, or vocals sharing frequencies with instruments can leave some artifacts.
What genres work best?
Pop, hip-hop, R&B, and rock generally work excellently. Electronic dance music, classical music, and very dense metal recordings can be more challenging due to frequency overlap between vocals and instruments.
Do you store my uploaded files?
We store your files temporarily to allow you to download the results. Files are flagged for cleanup after download or after a short retention period. We do not share or sell your audio files. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Is it legal to remove vocals from songs?
For personal use, vocal removal is generally considered legal in most countries under fair use principles. For commercial use, public performance, or distribution of modified songs, you may need appropriate music licenses from the rights holders.
Can I process the same song multiple times?
Yes. There are no usage limits. You can process as many songs as you like, as many times as you like.
Why does the instrumental still have some vocals?
AI separation isn't perfect. Vocal frequencies that overlap with instruments, background chorus vocals, or heavily processed/reverbed voices are harder to remove completely. Trying a higher-quality source file can sometimes improve results.
Do you support languages other than English?
Yes. The AI separates vocals based on acoustic patterns, not language. It works equally well for songs in any language — Spanish, Japanese, Korean, French, or any other.
What happens if processing fails?
If processing fails, you'll see an error message and can try again. Common causes include very short files, corrupted audio, or temporarily overloaded servers. If the problem persists, try a different file format.
Can I use the output files commercially?
The tool is free to use, but the copyright in the source songs belongs to the original rights holders. Commercial use of separated tracks from copyrighted music requires licenses from the copyright owners.
What browsers are supported?
Any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. No plugins or extensions required. The tool works entirely in your browser with files uploaded to our servers.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet. The web tool works on mobile browsers, but a dedicated mobile app is planned for the future.
How is FreeVocalRemover funded?
We plan to display ads in the future to cover server costs. Currently the tool is funded while we establish quality and grow our user base. No costs are passed to users — the tool will always be free.
